The Mayor is at the heart of changing London for the better. His work includes making it easier for people to move in and around the city, transforming open spaces into cleaner, calmer, greener places, tackling housing and health inequalities, giving young Londoners a better start in life, championing our city at home and abroad, and more. In particular, The Mayor’s office is committed to improving employment and training opportunities for all Londoners. To help achieve these aims, in August 2010 they published the London Employment Action Plan ‘Increasing Employment in London: A plan for growth. http://www.london.gov.uk/

The London Development Agency is the Mayor’s agency responsible for driving London’s sustainable economic growth. Their work is prioritised by four themes: Regenerating London; Supporting People; Encouraging Business; and Marketing London. http://www.lda.gov.uk/

The European Social Fund (ESF) is one of four Structural Funds designed to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union. Its main purpose is to support the annual UK Employment Action Plan, which sets out how UK policies and initiatives take account of the Employment Guidelines established within the European Employment Strategy. ESF is channelled through three Structural Fund Objectives and the EQUAL Community Initiative. http://www.esf.gov.uk/

Another Structural Fund is the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), set up to stimulate economic development in less prosperous regions of the European Union (EU). As EU membership has grown, ERDF has developed into a major instrument for helping to redress regional imbalances. The Department for Work and Pensions supports its Ministers in developing and implementing policies and strategies aimed at people who receive benefits, who need help to get work and people who are disabled, older or get the State Pension. http://www.dwp.gov.uk

Train to Gain learners are adults whose learning is enabled, sponsored or facilitated by their employer. Train to Gain learners are funded from the Employer Responsive allocation. http://skillsfundingagency.bis.gov.uk/

The Skills Funding Agency is the agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills who are responsible for funding and regulating adult further education and skills training in England. http://skillsfundingagency.bis.gov.uk

The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) work to increase the number of employers providing Apprenticeship opportunities and offer them support using the online Apprenticeship vacancies system. Prevista make use of this support using the NAS website to promote their live vacancies.
