Training and Development

Our advisers often point out that retaining a staff member is more cost effective than recruiting a new worker. One of the best solutions our customers have found is through recognising staff skills and achievements with a work based qualification.

The qualifications are assessed on the job, causing little disruption to your day-to-day operations. They both recognise the skills your employees have, whilst bridging the gap of where certain skills are missing. The advantage to each employer is a confidence that all staff are qualified to a consistent level and the teams are often more motivated as a result of the formal recognition.

All our qualifications are part or fully subsidised which means you can seriously stretch your training budget or reduce costs, providing excellent training and development opportunities.

Detail

Prevista offers three really practical routes for qualifying your staff to nationally recognised standards:

Work Based Qualifications

Essentially the work based qualifications are made up from a number of units which ensure an employee is performing to a certain standard, assessed through the nationally recognised Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). The best bit is that only a few units are mandatory, which allows the rest of the qualification to be tailored specifically to your business or employee. We can even integrate some of your current training into the qualification causing little disruption to your day-to-day operations.

Prevista offers Work Based Qualifications in:

  • Customer Service
  • Business Administration
  • Retail
  • Information Technology
  • Team Leading
  • Management

Functional Skills

Functional Skills is a key foundation course for employees who need additional support.

Covering:

  • Mathematics – problem solving, decision making using numbers and numerical reasoning
  • English – speaking, listening, reading and writing
  • Information Technology – using word, spreadsheets, email and internet

Apprenticeships

Often a route to recruitment, Apprenticeships can also be a useful way for the training and development of current employees for new positions. Using the same principles of Work Based Qualifications, Apprenticeships combine Functional Skills and a more intensive programme of Guided Learning Hours to ensure your employee is well developed and trained to grow within your organisation. Apprenticeships normally last 9 – 12 months.

How

Staff Qualifications

We’ll work with you to carry out an audit of your staff qualifications, identifying where funding is available and where you may need to cover the gap.

Sites & Logistics

Through discussion, we’ll work out a way to deliver the tailored programme of training and development that causes the least disruption to your day-to-day operations. We can be flexible in how we offer the qualifications, working across multiple sites, at a head office or through offsite provision.

KPIs

Every business has targets they want to achieve from their staff. When we create packages of training and development we’ll also work with you to ascertain what the key performance indicators are for your business. It may be that you want to be recognised by Investors in People or you’re leading a new division and what to provide your line manager with summative feedback about staff morale. However you measure success, we’ll ensure you have access to this information to support your own challenges.

Cost

Prevista Advisers are experts at untangling what funding is available to reduce the costs of qualifying your staff.

In Summary

Some learners with no formal qualifications will often be fully funded, whereas others may receive part funding requiring some employer contribution.

The general rule of thumb is the more learners you can provide the more flexibility we have in reducing costs to your business.
