Prevista has successfully delivered the SEEDA SOS (Simplifying opportunities for Start Ups) Business Support programme. Prevista and their partners exceeded targets supporting over 600 beneficiaries across the South East of England, starting 72 new businesses in the process during the life-span of this European Social Fund project.
However statistics only tell half the story, and often the best way to measure the impact of a project is to speak with the beneficiaries who have experienced the benefits first hand.
Deborah Mitchell, believes that the course helped her to focus her idea and gave her the initiative to look into becoming self employed, commenting that ‟when people take an interest in something you created it gives you the lift necessary to succeed”.
Deborah now runs a successful Music tuition company that offers piano lessons to those who suffer disability.
Joanne Craig launched her business in November 2010 creating dolls and is clear that without support from the SEEDA project, it would not have been possible, saying how great it was to have someone “on board from the start, she really believed I could take my idea and turn it into a viable business”
After a life changing and career ending accident, Paul Ramsden came on to the SEEDA programme and used it to access new training and education to restart his working life.
“The training and personal support from tutors provided under this local project supported by the European Social Fund was excellent” Paul continues, “In the period I studied at the Winchester Learning Centre, I gradually rebuilt my confidence levels and secured qualifications I had not thought possible.”
This small sample of beneficiaries gives a good insight into the true successes of this programme. Prevista now look forward to helping create more businesses as a great way to tackle unemployment and get people back into work.
