Sadly on Friday 3rd March Prevista Board member Janette Faherty OBE passed away after a very short battle with a rare cancer.
Janette made a very positive impact on Prevista staff in her time on our Board, inspiring and motivating a wide variety of the team to take a more dynamic approach to their work, particularly those working in marketing and project management roles. Her input made a significant contribution to the success of our current projects, which support some of the most vulnerable young people and adults, as well as Prevista’s 21st Anniversary event at the House of Commons. Mark Sargeant, Director of Business Development, Partnerships and Marketing comments:
“Janette’s direct and dynamic approach to working with Prevista staff had huge benefits for all who came in touch with her, connecting with them in a way that made them want to achieve better and better results for both themselves and the participants we work for. I personally found Janette to be a great motivator, with her generous and supportive manner enabling me to learn so much in a short space of time”
Janette was never selfish, whilst running her large company she thoughtfully supported and guided fellow entrepreneurs to build their businesses by making introductions and giving sound advice. James Clements Smith, Managing Director of Prevista, who knew Janette for almost 20 years captures this:
“Janette was an inspirational leader, she never compromised her belief that women entrepreneurs could be that: women. Janette was an inspiration to me personally and professionally and helped me shape my thoughts and direction for my business; she was selfless in that respect”
Janette’s remarkable contacts list enabled Prevista to link up with highly innovative organisations who work especially effectively with individuals who face some of the greatest barriers to entering employment, education and training, including the young people’s charity, Youth at Risk. The introduction to Youth at Risk enabled Prevista to utilise Youth at Risk’s skills and expertise to deliver a series of highly effective training workshops for all of our staff and Supply Chain Partners, which has contributed to providing better services for at risk young people. Prevista and Youth at Risk’s innovative Youth Congress residential course, which commences in 2017, and will work intensely with up to 50 vulnerable young people, will be a fitting legacy to Janette’s ability to bring organisations together so effectively.
In memory of Janette, Prevista will work with ERSA, AELP and the IEP to offer an annual Janette Faherty OBE, Award for Entrepreneurship in Employability & Skills. Sponsored by Workpays and Prevista, the award will be made to a new business set up to provide education, skills or employability which operates against a strong set of values to meet the needs of its customers.
