The Government, through the Future Jobs Fund, has given £1 billion to support the creation of jobs for long term unemployed young people and others who face significant disadvantage in the current labour market.
The fund aims to create 150,000 jobs between October 2009 and April 2011, for those in greatest need. By January 2010 every person aged 18-24 who has been out of work for more than 10 months will be guaranteed a new job, training or a paid work experience place. Every job created will last for a minimum of 6 months and ideally beyond to reduce unemployment in the UK and upskill individuals currently not involved in education, employment or training.
