There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of level two in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Our funding for this qualification is suitable for learners of 18 years of age and above.

How is the qualification assessed?

This qualification consists of one mandatory component and is assessed by an externally set examination that consists of 

two parts:

• The Calculator test (110 minutes)

• The Non-calculator test (40 minutes)

The total duration of the examination is 2 hours 30 minutes. 

The assessment will require learners to demonstrate underpinning knowledge skills and problem-solving techniques in 

realistic settings. Learners must answer a series of questions based on purposeful scenarios and all questions must be 

completed. 

Mathematics examinations are available on demand in both an on-screen and a paper-based format.

Learners will receive complimentary access to an online functional skills resource that hosts a range of engaging mathematics materials to support learners, including initial assessments, tutorials and interactive learning resources.
