MARTINA

Martina works full time as a Nursery Assistant at Orpington Day Nursery. Before joining the nursery Martina had no previous childcare experience, however she did have bags of enthusiasm and a host of transferable skills. To get her up to scratch in a childcare environment, and to build her confidence, Martina’s manager advised her to first complete a level 2 qualification in childcare and then move onto a level 3 diploma.

As Martina had no previous qualifications and an initial lack of self-confidence it has been crucial to provide her with a tailored programme of support, which we have embedded into the delivery of her qualification. Martina’s Assessor, Aneta Uzunova, has been working closely with her to develop self-confidence and build her knowledge on crucial processes and procedures including safeguarding and health & safety, alongside mandatory and optional childcare modules directly related to her day to day activities.

Prevista are always keen to ensure full buy-in of the employer and Aneta has worked with Martina’s manager, Maria to fully involve her in Martina’s learning journey. Maria is supplementing support provided by Aneta by mentoring Martina through additional one to ones and advice and guidance related to her job role. Aneta has been delighted with Martina’s progress:

“I have noticed a marked improvement in Martina’s self-confidence as she presses ahead with the completion of her apprenticeship. She is keen to advance to level 3 and is already talking enthusiastically about future career plans – she hopes to progress to Room Leader after completing her Level 3 Childcare qualification”.

With the full support of her employer, and an excellent rapport with her Prevista assessor, Martina is excellently placed to finish her apprenticeship ahead of schedule and advance to the next level – an excellent achievement from a learner who previously had no qualifications.
