SHEBA

Sheba started her Management Level 3 apprenticeship qualification with Prevista in February 2017 whilst working as a security officer. At the time she had no team to manage but she was keen to develop good managerial skills so that she would be eligible for promotion and could be a good manager when the time came. Her employer saw the benefits in developing their staff and agreed to support her by putting her through their internal “step-up” programme which would expose her to some managerial duties.

Although Sheba was keen to progress and grow within the team, she was held back by her lack of confidence when approaching supervisors and managers. Starting the management qualification caused these challenges to come to the forefront. Her tutor, Gayane, helped her to build up her confidence and encouraged some sympathetic supervisors to mentor her. To make things easier, Gayane made sure Sheba’s apprenticeship assignments were aligned with the step-up programme.

After demonstrating good progress, Sheba was offered the opportunity to cover a supervisor position in the security control room. Over time she was offered more and more hours in the supervisor role before eventually being formally promoted.

Two weeks ago Sheba was offered a “Control Room Supervisor” position. Congratulations Sheba!
