Adil started the Digital Marketing class sessions on 1st of December 2020, two weeks after the Employability sessions. He was gregarious and would interact well in class but lacked confidence in his written skills. He’d studied business before, but while interested in marketing he didn’t think he knew much about it and wasn’t sure what to expect and whether he’d be able to do it.

Before the Traineeship Adil had been applying for jobs and apprenticeships, but without any success – like many people he wouldn’t always get a response and this affected his confidence.

What interventions and actions did the project undertake with adil?

Through classes and regular meetings, Adil was able to give focus to his answers. He met with his tutor outside of the class sessions to help plan his work. Through the feedback and planning he was able to make improvements to his answers and build his confidence in applying what he learned in class.

This, in combination with his own determination, allowed him to overcome a lack of confidence in what he could achieve in the class and consequently in the workplace.

WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME AND IMPACT OF THE ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN?

The Traineeship Programme has given Adil the knowledge and experience to apply for jobs and apprenticeships. For the work placement Adil said: “MiQ taught me everything they knew…” and gave an insight into all areas of their business (selling, trading, and creative side of things).

Adil also acknowledged that the Traineeship Programme had given him self-belief and more confidence in his own ability – he went on to say that were he to attend another group it would be very different, and he wouldn't be looking around at everyone thinking they had more experience and more offer. Instead, he’d be looking at his own experience and when it came to Digital Marketing it was something he was good at too.

WHERE IS ADIL NOW AND ANY FURTHER COMMENTS?

Adil has successfully completed his Traineeship with MiQ Digital and is looking to gain full employment in the Digital Marketing field using his new found confidence and experience.

“Without the Traineeship I would probably still be at home, stressing about finding work. It's been good… I've learnt a lot in such a little time. My tutor was very helpful and welcoming… she helped me learn more about marketing… she radiates knowledge…”
