tell us about you

James joined Prevista having studied up to a double Distinction in BTECs at Level 3 in School and wanted to make progress to an Apprenticeship, step onto the career ladder and to isolate and address weaknesses such as his own lack of self-confidence

What interventions and actions did the team undertake with james?

It soon became apparent that James was an efficient and independent learner with an eye for detail; something that many employers would find useful. However, James lacked the confidence and self-belief.

We gave him an in-house project using Google Analytics to help James’s confidence in his abilities. The view from the in-house team was that:

‘The recommendations were sound and based on the evidence he produced. He also made insightful comments about the look and feel of the website and elements of its design. This was a great help as this work was long overdue and had been shelved because we lacked the resource and expertise to do it ourselves… and clearly showed professionalism and aptitude in this area. The report submitted to me met all the criteria I had set, and I would have expected to see that standard from a much more experienced colleague.’

WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME AND IMPACT OF THE ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN?

James felt the programme meant “I can work more effectively with a time now, as I have grown in my mindset and learnt that working on a team is positive for tackling a task and I feel more confident contributing to work activities.”

The work placement provider, in their feedback said “James was fully engaged, proactive, punctual, and highly involved in the placement. He often took the lead in group tasks and was always happy to feedback ideas and get involved in discussions. All tasks were handed in on time and of a good standard. James's communications skills were also excellent, and he was a pleasure to have on the placement.”

James is hopeful he’ll be able to get an Apprenticeship and from the feedback and responses he’s had so far, he’s positive about this.

WHERE IS JAMES NOW AND ANY FURTHER COMMENTS?

James has successfully completed his placement and is looking to gain full employment in the Digital Marketing field using his new found confidence and experience.

James found his work placement “fantastic and really enjoyed it “, and felt the Traineeship was the “best programme” and had given him an insight into what he wants to do moving forward.

It was “amazing and the best insight into what working in Digital Marketing will be like”.
