KASIA MANDZIUK

Kasia Mandziuk, a Rapid Response Supervisor working for Mitie at Great Ormand Street Hospital has been developing her management skills through Prevista’s Work Place Learning (WPL) programme. WPL is funded jointly by the European Social fund and the Skills Funding Agency; through this programme Prevista support people in work to progress to enhance their career through higher level qualifications, increased pay, extra responsibility, internal promotions or by providing the opportunity to move onto a better job.

Kasia enrolled onto the programme as she wished to advance from a team leading role to full scale management responsibility. Following an initial assessment and diagnostic with her Prevista Personal Career Coach, Rebecca Gurley, Kasia embarked on a level 2 team leading qualification. Rebecca recalls:

“At the start of her qualification Kasia wanted to develop her leadership skills in order to take on more leadership responsibility. Throughout the programme we discussed in detail how she could delegate effectively to maximise staff member’s skills and knowledge; enhance her organisation skills to better manage her workload and free up time to respond better to unplanned tasks”

Kasia’s confidence increased as a result of knowledge gained through the in-work qualification and the extra evening and weekend training and workshops that Prevista provide. In particular Rebecca noted an improvement in the way Kasia dealt with demotivated staff; this has had an immediate impact on Kasia’s future career prospects with her managers giving her responsibility for all in-house training of new staff.

Kasia has now completed her level 2 team leading Apprenticeship and has advanced to a level 3 management Apprenticeship.
